Ksenia Panteleeva is the head of the Ural office of Alliance Legal CG (Yekaterinburg). She is in charge of corporate and labor law practice and she heads dispute resolution practice within the structural unit she is in charge of.

Ksenia advises and represents clients in corporate, obligations and property cases; she has a well-deserved reputation as an outstanding expert in tax structuring and tax dispute resolution.

Experience

Prior to joining Alliance Legal CG, Ksenia was in charge of the legal department of an auditing company, she worked as a deputy head for administrative and legal work of a group of companies in the construction industry.

Online hearings in Russian courts have been going on for two years now. They were launched because of the pandemic and medical restrictions, and then kept because it is convenient. Such a format saves time and money for business trips to other regions. The most daring lawyers connect to video conferences from cafes or their cars. On the other hand, there are often technical problems: the connection can be interrupted during the lawyer's speech. In addition, all the nuances of the online legal process are still not legally regulated, e.g. it is not very clear how to attach and examine evidence.

Many lawyers try to include every possible argument in an appeal or cassation appeal, apparently thinking it will look more convincing that way. But the effect is usually the opposite. After all, the higher the instance, the less time the judges have. Therefore, it is better to indicate 3-4 of the strongest arguments, and if there are any other arguments, make them in charts or tables for better perception. Another common mistake of court lawyers is to write the claim, the appeal and the cassation complaint by copying.

"State Duma in a week: tax breaks, bail period and state procurement". Comments for Pravo.ru
This week, the State Duma considered several dozen bills, some of which passed all three readings in two plenary sessions. The MPs approved new benefits for various transport sectors, simplification and benefits for participants in procurement, and changed the procedure for appealing against bail and recovery of funds from state agencies at the request of the Constitutional Court. Lawyers call many of these changes long-awaited, while some of the reliefs are considered insufficient.

On 22 March, the State Duma considered a number of draft laws designed to reduce the burden on citizens and businesses and provide them with new opportunities in the face of sanctions. Most of these innovations were adopted in the second and third readings at once. We are talking about large-scale tax breaks, greater access to "Russian offshore", lower fines for businesses and protection from "double" administrative penalties, as well as streamlining the indexation of awarded sums.
